| "The service at Al Sham was very good and it was generally clean. Our room was a good size. However, transport links (including taxis) to the area is poor so makes it difficult to see the rest of dubai. This was its major drawback. The bathroom too was in need of work with a leaky sink and a shower head that needed replacing." |

| "The bathroom was a little bit worn out and it could be cleaner. Breakfast is really arabic, so don`t expect bread or anything. Service was really good, but location was not. No one could find it, even the taxidrivers!!! Overall it was o.k., but for this price a little bit better facilities would not do any harm." |

| "The quality of the room was ridiculous. I've slept on train station floors that were more comfortable than the "bed" that was inflicted upon us. The room was shabby and not particularly clean, and the staff made your presence in their crap hotel seem like a personal insult. There is a balcony, but not one you would actually sit on unless you were some kind of extra-terrestrial whose respiratory system required smog instead of oxygen. We had thought it would be convenient for the airport, but in fact it took us over an hour to get there. And the door doesn't lock properly. And the air conditioning system is a hairdryer. And, it's basically just miserable. go somewhere else.

| "All I wanted was a clean room, good bed and decent shower for 24hrs: and I got it!
A 20min taxi drive into Old Dubai, the outside of the hotel will have you worried but relax. Friendly staff greet you and although the hallways are a little dingy the rooms are fine. In fact, the room was better than I thought. Beds are hard as boards but I hear its good for your posture and after passing through a dozen time zones I slept just fine! Bathroom was clean and adequate, shower just about warm enough. TV's got BBC World: result! Breakfast included; basic but plentiful.
In summary, remember you get what you pay for. Expect the Savoy and you'll be disappointed. For a short stop over this hotel is just fine. Great for backpackers etc but don't take your girlfriend here for a romantic 'all expenses' holiday...you'll be branded a cheapscate and single on the flight home!" |

| "Good location, very handy for airport but also close to sea and easy for Deira souks. Room was fine though a bit more water pressure in the shower wouldn't go amiss. The staff were friendly and helpful. Altogether very good value and more fun than the 5 star palaces!" |

| "Al Sham hotel is a very good option to stay in Dubai on a tight budget, either for tourists or biz travellers. Not suitable for a romantic holiday.
The hotel charges around 200 Dhs per single room, which includes a small fridge, A/C, bathtub, WC, 24 h hotwater. There is a small TV in each room (Arab+BBC+TV5). The breakfast is at extra 10 Dhs but is no good value. Internet cafe is next door (open 8am-2am), very good restaurants (Turkish, Lebanese) within 3 min walk, as well as a supermarket.Parking accross the street (10 Dhs/24 h) but usually very full 7pm-6am. High probability of being fined by traffic police (150-200 Dhs!!!) if time is exceeded, or allegedly wrong parking outside slots(regular checks 8am-9am)!!!
Rooms face busy road, or a calm street with a mosque, however windows are soundproof enough. The bathroom could be renovated, however the level of comfort is ok for the price. Al Mamzar park and beach are within 10 minutes ride. Taxi to center costs around 6 Dhs." |
