New Zealand's largest grape growing and wine manufacturing area is Marlborough, northeastern corner of New Zealand's South Isle with 65 wineries, 4054 hectares of grape producing land 290 grape growers. These vineyards are situated at three wine-producing regions of Marlborough including that area which lies in close proximity of the Candy bay, hence the name -Candy Bay. In fact the Candy Bay is located at the eastern fringe of the Wairau Valley which is one of the important viticulture districts of Marlborough. Marl borough's wine is simply unparalleled in the world and it is the finest place to grow the Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The vines are planted on deep gravels of alluvial. Apart from Sauvignon Blanc, a popular Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is also prepared by Cloudy Bay. However the quality of Sauvignon Blanc remains unmatched and it is a sought-after wine all over the world. Cloudy Bay is now a major exporter of wine and virtually Candy Bay wine has virtually become a "cult item" especially in U.S. and U.K. The bold as well as fruity flavor of the feted wine is liked by all. Interestingly a wine critic said that drinking Cloudy Bay Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc was like listening to Bach's Goldberg Variations played by Glenn Gould. At present the Cloudy Bay Vineyards is owned by the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessy) which is a multinational goods firm. It has a champagne house named Veuve Clicquot from where wine is exported to twenty countries all over the world including Europe, United Kingdom, USA and Japan.
