is one of the popular natural attractions of the country. It is located at Batu
Melintang, which is situated along the East-West Expressway in the district of
Jeli. You can take a bus heading to Jeli from Kota Bharu's main bus terminal.
Mount Reng is renowned for its spectacular natural beauty and is visited by
thousands of nature lovers who come to feast on the breathtaking natural wonders
of the area. Like most of the natural attractions of Malaysia Mount Reng is
also associated with some legendary tale. The local residents of the region
believe that mountain is linked to the legendary Puteri Saadong. According to
the folklore, Puteri Saadong was disappointed with the the villagers' preoccupation
with cat and dog fighting and in anger he hurled a gigantic boulder down the
Reng Mountain onto the village centre. Non one in the village could survive
this onslaught and all the villagers died except one.
Latest research and excavation in and around the mountain has suggested that
the entire area was inhabited during ancient time. The mountain also boasts
of limestone caves, which have become popular tourist attractions.
