fell to the conquest of Fatahillah in the year 1557. The city was renamed Jayakarta.
With time and under the Dutch rule, Jayakarta lost its name and became Batavia
and continued to use this name till 1942. The Japanese invasion in 1942 got
back the city's old name and after the Indonesian War of Independence was over,
Jakarta was established as the capital of Indonesia with full glory.

Located in South East Asia between the Indian and Pacific oceans is the Indonesian
Archipelago. The main islands consist of Java, Sumatra, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi,
the Moluccas Islands and Irian Jaya.
