| "We had stayed at a similar style of property previously in Chiang Mai but thought we would try somewhere different. The Manathai far exceeded our expections as there was a huge price difference between them both with the Manathai being less expensive. The staff were friendly and extremely efficient. The rooms were lovely and quite spacious. The whole place was spotless and beautifully landscaped. It is in a great location being about equal distance to the night market in one direction and the old city in the other. My daughter and husband were in the room next door which was upstairs but on the corner of 2 laneways. She found the motorbikes woke her early so I would recommend asking for a quiet room if one was a light sleeper. I would recommend elderly people requesting a room downstairs by the pool as the stairs can be a little slippery in the wet. There are a few stairs to climb to the restaurant "Weaves" which also was lovely. It is a true boutique style hotel with a lovely feel.

| "A beautiful oasis of calm & tranquility, perfectly located for sight seeing and within easy walking distance of main town attractions. Our room was beautiful (although a little bigger would have been perfect), spotlessly clean and with a wonderful bathroom - complete with walk-in shower & a huge bathtub.
The Manathai is a small boutique hotel set amid lovely gardens and is a welcome escape from the noise & the heat of the town. The pool is great for cooling off after a hectic day shopping or sight seeing. The staff were attentive and very helpful & the free internet & newspapers were a bonus.
We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely stay here again if we return to Chiang Mai. " |

| "My 5 day stay at this hotel was an absolute pleasure. On arrival the reception staff had all forms already completed with most of my details and all I had to do was complete my address and sign. Although I arrived early at 11.00am, my room was ready and I could settle and unpack before lunch. The room was a ground floor end room and was a good size with two easy chairs, with a walk-in dressing room and a large bathroom. The only complaint I had was that there was no hot water feed to the hand wash basin in the bathroom and as I am a wet shaver this requirement is an absolute must for me. But still the room and its amenities were a perfect bargain at the price. Breakfast was excellent and I loved the egg dishes freshly prepared on demand (no soggy wet scrambled eggs in a container kept warm by gas!). The pool area and free internet access added to the pleasure of staying at this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpfull at all times. A perfect place to stay as the old city, day shopping and night market are all within walking distance (10-15 minutes) and the area was very safe for walking even late at night.I highly recommend this hotel as a "gem find" in Chang Mai and will stay here again. | "We found the Manathai hotel very much as described on the Asiarooms website. Very welcoming and the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.Especially like the little touches of fresh flowers on the pillows in the evening. We thought our acommodation was very good value for money.Breakfast was very plentiful and delicious. If we were to stay in Chiang Mai again we would not hesitate to stay at the Manathai as we felt very comfortable. My one complaint would be the floors in the rooms are polished concrete and can be quite slippery if wearing socks or shoes that don't have a rubber sole." |

| "We were very disappointed with our stay at the Manathai Village Hotel. The first problem we ran into was the AC seemed inadequate for the room. The AC ran non-stop and the room never got really cool. The second problem is the bed. The bed was very uncomfortable. Worse, the bed is a mattress only, resting nearly on the floor. We also had a large space between the door and the floor and had insects in the room. The next problem was the hot water in the shower. There was no way to regulate the water temperature and keep it there. The shower went from hot to cool and then back to hot. The breakfast is located on the second floor with no lift. If you are injured or cannot use stairs you will have a difficult time getting to the breakfast area." |

| "Reasonably near Night Bazaar. Nice decor, but bathroom was too dark. 3 minute walk from main road to hotel. Staff helpful most of the time, but I had to wait 15 minutes for a taxi which I asked for. When the "taxi" arrived, I realised that the staff (the conceirge) had asked his friend to serve as taxi driver, and I was charged 150 baht for a 50 baht trip less than 1 km away. " |

| "I know this review is horribly late but have been doing a lot of travel in the last 6 months. We stayed there in October 2007. The Manathai Hotel was a wonderful oasis. Well situated to walk to all sights. Service excellent. The pool was a lovely way to cool off after a long days shopping or sight-seeing. Our room was excellent. Very clean and nicely decorated in a newer-style Thai look. The staff are all very pleasant and the manager, although we only met briefly(he had been away)on our last morning, was extremely friendly and had remembered our friends who had stayed not long before. Just a little niggle. The bathroom whilst being very clean and charmingly decorated was a little hard to negotiate. You had to step into the shower and then up again to get to the vanity and toilet. I'm sure al rooms are not the same as we were upgraded to a family suite. But as I said a minor inconvenience. We live in Thailand at the moment and when we return to lovely ChiangMai we will definitely stay again at Manathai Village. " |

| "My partner and myself had a very pleasant stay at Manathai. The place is very well designed (think white walls - dark wood) and service is really fast and friendly (eg I asked to clean my shirts and four hours later it was back plus the button I lost reattached; no extra charge).
The location is out of the old town but we were in Chiang Mai to explore the surrounding areas, for which the location was great (we highly recommend a bicycle tour). There is a strip of bars around the corner with some nightlife action if desired. English newspapers can be found in the electronic mall 5 minutes away.
The hotel hat reasonably well working WiFi everywhere. We ate twice at the restaurant in the hotel with mixed results. Again, the restaurant is very pretty. We also got a recommendation for an external restaurant from the front desk but that was not so great.
The main drawback for us was the lack of any gym even if this was advertised on the website somehow. There's nothing (except a pool but other people use it to paddle around) and you'll have to go to the next big hotel, another 5 minutes walk.
Summary:
All in all a very pleasant and pretty place to stay. Very friendly staff. No gym." |
