| "Our stay was very nice and the room comfotable.
Unfortunately the morning of our departure there was no breakfast at the executive level, and there was some comfusion about a limousine booked to return us to the airport.
We left with no breakfast and a rushed trip to the airport.Considering the amount we paid for the room and facilities we left unhappy" |

| "We enjoyed our stay at Menam Riverside hotel. Staff were very friendly.
Hotel lobby, restaurent area overlooking the river was great. Breakfast buffet was great.
Had the seafood dinner BBQ one night, 1,200 Bht.Was expensive.
Housekeeping staff were honest. I forgot and left our travel documents together with my credit cards in the room after we checked out. Staff found it right away and got us in time before we left to the airport.
River shuttle service was great. Takes you to the train station.
Hotel area location not great, unable walk around. There are services close to the hotel to arrange for tours.
Do not take the tour to Coral island. There is nothing there, it was a waste of time and money. If you want to Para glide it's o.k. Take that trip only." |

| "WE liked the hotel in many ways but unfortunately it has a very unreliable AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM.Our group had 4 rooms and we all had the same problem
We would set the system at 22deg/c and go to bed. By 5am the system had reset itself to 27deg/c and it was very uncomfortable. I think the new owners need to take a serious look at the air conditioning system
Apart from this we enjoyed the hotel. " |

| "We booked this hotel with a group of 5 friends during the Lions Clubs International Convention 23 - 27th June. We were well looked after. Free boat from hotel to Sky rail station up river, nice trip. Breakfast was included and had anything you could have wished for. Great pool area. As with most good class hotels, drinks are overpriced. Rooms are large and airy. good size bathroom, room safe is very handy.
We would be very pleased to stay here again. " |

| "The hotel is not located in central Bangkok, but the riverside location was a nice respite from the hustle of the main areas. The shuttle boat to the skytrain was excellent and made it easy to access the mainshopping and tourist areas of Bangkok. The facilities are excellent, although the restaurants are on the pricey side.
Would thoroughly recommend and would stay there again." |

| "I booked a 5 night stay at this hotel in the hope that it would offer a wide variety of interesting options for entertainment for a lone traveller. How wrong was I? I was upgraded on arrival which was nice but the rooms are 3 star quality and no more. However, I have to say that the bed was very comfortable.
The hotel is situated down the river from the main sightseeing areas and they do offer a complimentary boat service to the nearest BTS Skytrain station and Tourist Boat stop every 30 mins. You can walk to the BTS station in about 20 minutes but beware of the Bangkok traffic pollution.
The Hotel has 3 main restaurants, The Riverside restaurant, The Coffee Shop and a Chinese Seafood restaurant. Breakfast is served daily until 10am in the Riverside restaurant and as the name suggests it is right by the heavily polluted Chao Praya River. Why anyone would want to eat right next to it is beyond me. The Coffee Shop is inside the hotel proper but it does have an outside balcony which is nice and is right by the pool. This is not a coffee shop at all but a more traditional restaurant offering their versions of Asian cuisine. The Chinese Seafood restaurant was out of my price league and is situated on the 2nd floor.
The Lobby Lounge has coffee and cakes, beer and cocktails also, for most of the day and they have a happy hour about tea time. You can also sit outside on a long veranda overlooking the pool.
Other facilities include a really beautiful pool area and pool bar that serves snacks. The Neo Lounge Bar is very comfortable and a bit chic with some trendy lighting which has live music every night. They have a business centre that seems to cater for the travelling business persons needs but not the tourists. You can book a 2hr package that will set you back £5/$10 to use the internet but no shorter periods. They have a couple of little bric a brac shops too.
However, despite the near total refit of this hotel into a very modern style it is nowhere near a good 4 star. Despite some very formal, wooden and courteous service from the sometimes excellent staff it doesn't hide the obvious awning great gap between a 5 star and a 3 star hotel. The managment seem to think this hotel is on the beach in Phuket or Hua Hin. There is nothing to do all day. The whole place is pretentious beyond belief. The internal marketing is very poor even when they have organised something for the guests to do. On arrival in the room you usually have an extensive lists of ameneties and facilities available, but there wasn't any. The only advertising I saw was on a flat screen TV in the lobby attached to the wall and that's if you can be bothered to stand there and gawp at it for 5 minutes while the screen changes information. The Neo Lounge has live entertainment every night but guests just kept walking past it without blinking an eye as they didn't know about it. There is a happy hour between 11.30pm and 00.30am, but the Neo lounge closes at 1am. Where is the sense in that?
Last but not least are the prices, How on earth can they expect to get away with the extortionate prices they charge and then expect to have a full hotel. If I wanted to pay a small fortune for a small bottle of beer or coffee and cake I would expect to be in Norway or the Hilton, not in one of the least expensive tourist countries in the world. The food is okay but it is not worth the prices you pay for it. Unless you take the boat up to the main part of the city there is nowhere else for you to go and eat unless you are used to Bangkok Street food or you pop around the corner to the supermarket and stay in your room all night.
I understand that the hotel has just been aquired by a large hotel group and it may well be in a state of flux at the moment. However, it does not excuse poor management and marketing and loading the prices without offering something for it other than a nice smile and Wai.
If you are travelling alone avoid this hotel. If you are a couple/group take a chess set and some very deep pockets. This is not a bad hotel by any means and the staff are pretty good, some are even excellent. The Menam needs to run for the benefit of the guests and the Menam not just for the benefit of the Menam.
