"My room had baby cockroaches. Shows how "clean" it is. Service was bad, had to ask 3 times before i got an extra towel. Had bad tv reception, the same for my other friends booked in separate rooms. The only good thing is that it is well located with good food just across the road at Jalan Alor and Shopping centres nearby. Had a better experience at Royale Bintang which ive stayed 2 years back."

"Service is variable depending on the staff you encounter but generally speaking the staff are uninterested & whilst not rude or unfriendly I did not find them welcoming or helpful either. The best thing about this hotel is its location, perfect for shopping (in malls) and dining, it's right in the thick of it. If you want markets China town is a better location, which is about a half hour walk from this hotel, which is the equivalent to a $10 ringget cab in the morning and $35 in the afternoon (due to traffice, hence the walking). The bar/resturnt next door has it's music up loud until 3am, despite the fact no one seems to be in there. Can be annoying if you're a light sleeper. When staying there I strongly recommend asking for a room NOT facing to the inside of the building because that "view" is totally depressing and you get no natural light into the room so you can't tell if it's day or night. We requested a room change and the staff were happy to move us free of charge. The rooms (both that we stayed in) were old fashioned styling, very retro (in a bad way) with olive green furniture that you can tell has been there for 50 years. In the first room the wall was drity, the safe was broken, the toilet had stains and the shower didnt have hot water. The linen had marks/stains on them in both rooms, the toilets didnt seem to work properly and both rooms contained old TVs. There was a musky smell present throughout the entire hotel and the control for the room lights frustrated me. Overall we feel we paid to much for what we got. We would not stay here again, it's not a nice place to wake up, Ive stayed in hostels that are nicer. There are a number of other hotels on this strip that we would try out first."

"The hotel location is perfect, almost you can walk anywhere without a hassel, "

"The bathroom facilities are not good, different from another 4-star hotels."

"Very good hotel for a stay in KL. Very good breakfast (included in price of the room)"

"The hotel located in the perfect area for shopping. However, the room was a bit of a disappointment as it was not clean and produced a smell as we first entered the room. The wardrobe's door has a cracked and unable to close. It was below the 4 stars rating standard we were expecting. "

"Service is excellent - staff always helpful and polite, especially the doormen (those guys that received guests at the main entrance). "

"I have stayed at the Federal Hotel numerous times & am therefore familiar with the hotel. Service is variable depending on the staff you encounter but generally speaking the staff (porters, reception, restaurant, housekeeping) are uninterested & whilst not rude or unfriendly I did not find them welcoming or helpful either. Be wary of the staff who work at the limousine/hotel transport counter; they're pushy & lecherous if you're a young, single female like me. The room I was allocated on this occasion was large & comfortable but the bathroom was small. The hotel is well located (one of the reasons why I return time & time again)close to all the shopping malls. When I first stayed at this hotel many years ago the rates were extremely reasonable. Although the rates are not extortionate for a 3 star hotel they're not exactly cheap either. The hotel will need to improve on its disabled access for its disabled clients, currently not to be recommended for guests in wheelchairs."

"Overall its satisfactory. Service at Reception on checking in satisfactory. Breakfast reception poor food not up to expection. Call assistant not very courteous."

"The best about this hotel is its location. Just perfect. When staying there I strongly recommend asking for a room NOT facing to the inside of the building because that "view" is totally depressing. The worst about the hotel is the lack of friendliness and service of the staff. With very few exceptions everybody's face has this "I-hate-my-job-and-I-hate-the-guests-expression". Really BAD! When I went to have breakfast, for instance, the guy did not say a word at all (let alone give me a smile). He heard me say my room number, crossed me off the list, and made a gesture that arrogant people make to beggars if they want the beggar to disappear. "
