"Astil hotel is best recommened for its location as its very near to Ueno JR station. Only about 5-10min walk. Depending on your walking speed. Breakfast is average. Not much variety though. But cleanliness is perfect! Toilet ameneties are good. Room though is really small. As I am staying with my parents in a triple room. Its so squeezy that I cant leave my luggage open. However, I would highly recommend the hotel if you are looking for convenience. They are also able to let us check in about 2 hrs earlier. This is a plus point. "

"Very nice hotel. Good service, excellent location next to Ueno station, but no noise from trains. Room was nice, but not very large. Good place to explore Tokyo from and great connections to the airport and the Shinkansen."

"Ueno is such a dumpy area in terms of hotels. Awful, dingy business hotels, dicey love hotels and capsule hotels. I was pleasantly surprised to find that real effort had been taken to make the Astil pleasant. Clean, decorated, pleasant staff, a nice breakfast included. It's also a great location - just a couple minutes' walk from the Asakusa Exit of Ueno Station. So close that though it was raining I barely got wet! If I'd been in some other area of the city or another city altogether, I'd probably give the Astil lower scores. But for Ueno? It's absolutely the best option!"

"The hotel staff were very helpful. The location near Ueno station, senso ji temple and Ueno park is convenient. "

"Proximity to Ueno train station is the main plus point. The service is generally good. The receptionist speaks relatively good English. Finally, I was quite pleasantly surprised that the single bedroom was quite spacious."

"Good Hotel with good service and very friendly staff."

"I was spending 4 days in Tokyo to see the sights. The hotel was in an ideal location just around the corner from Ueno station. The staff were very helpful and, as all Japanese hotels, extremely polite. Breakfast was included and was a full buffet which was good for the price. Room was fine, not large but then I wasn`t planning to be in it other than to sleep and shower. And it was quiet - I had been concerned about noise from the station but it was ok. The hotel appears to be aimed at Japanese businessmen so don`t expect a high level of English to be spoken. But overall, couldn`t fault it and would use it again."
